What is MES+?
A classic MES (Manufacturing Execution System) is designed to manage the actual execution of production. It acts as a link between ERP and the shop floor, where operators register raw materials, machine time, staffing, quality and finished goods. MES ensures that production is carried out and documented correctly – but also relies on integrations to other systems such as SCADA, WMS and CMMS to create a complete overview.
AROLINK® MES+ builds on the classic MES. Where traditional solutions require a web of integrations, AROLINK® brings together the most important functions in one system. This means that production, planning, quality, food safety, maintenance, inventory and resources are naturally connected without extra interfaces.
In practice, MES+ is similar to what is traditionally called MOM (Manufacturing Operations Management), a system that covers the entire factory operations, not just production.
With MES+, the factory is synchronized much smarter and data flows freely across. When the operator records data, AROLINK® makes sure the right departments get the right information in time. For example, a quality deviation can immediately block a batch, a machine stop can automatically send a message to maintenance, and management can follow production in real-time.
MES vs. MES+
Traditional MES
➕Focus on executing production on the floor
➕Operator records and documents data
➕Quality: Process control and traceability
➕Integration: Dependent on other systems such as ERP, SCADA, WMS and CMMS
➕Planning: Order fulfillment
➕Maintenance: Error reporting or integration
➕Basic inventory management, traceability and material usage
➕OEE and machine-level performance
➕Reporting on production
➕Objective is to ensure that production is carried out and documented correctly
AROLINK® MES+
➕Focus is tomanage, monitor and improve the entire factory Whole factory operations
➕Data is automatically captured and shared across departments in real-time
Full quality control including HACCP, CCP, SOPs and audits
➕Many features included in the system. Can also make integrations to existing systems
➕Advanced planning and resource optimization
➕Integrated preventive maintenance that is synchronized with the rest of the factory
➕Extended inventory management and material flow. Synchronized with production, planning and more.
➕Advanced analytics, bottleneck management and optimization across
➕Detailed reporting
Purpose is to ensure to manage, monitor and improve the entire factory holistically
ERP, MES and MES+. What are your factory’s needs?
Manufacturing companies are inevitably facing digitalization. However, choosing the right system is crucial. While many factories are already using ERP systems to manage their business processes, it’s important to ask: How to achieve optimal digitalization of production? There are different types of factory systems, each tailored to meet specific needs.
